SAVE on Electrical Panel Maintenance

& Assessment

Why hire Wilcox Electric to perform an electrical panel maintenance assessment and preventative maintenance?

Electrical safety begins at the panel! Many electrical issues begin with loose connections, corrosion and over-fusing of circuits within the panel. Is your panel safe and up to code?

  • You may qualify for panel upgrades or repairs through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). New tax incentives to improve energy efficiency are available, including those that are applicable to some significant household expenditures. We can help ensure that your electrical panel has the spare capacity for the additional circuits necessary to power these energy efficient upgrades.

Panel Maintenance/Safety Assessment: What will Wilcox Electric do?

  • Identify panel manufacturer and type (i.e., main breaker, split bus, or main lug)
  • Remove the panel cover
  • Clean and remove all debris within the panel
  • Perform a visual inspection of the panel to identify any safety or code violations.
  • Remove miscellaneous breakers to perform visual inspection of panel bus bar*.
  • Apply anti-corrosion paste to aluminum conductors, as needed.
  • Check all electrical connections and terminations and tighten as needed.
  • Check for proper main grounding cable(s) and surge protection.
  • Check the main service cable for proper sizing and material integrity.
  • Inspect the outside meter to ensure proper sizing and material integrity.
  • Use an infrared meter on the panel to detect possible “hot spots”. (Note: “Hot spots” could be caused by possible overloaded circuits and/or faulty components within the panel.)
  • Provide assessment information and recommendations for repairs, as needed.

*Power interruption necessary to perform this step.
